Late Header Denies Under-23’s Win At Millwall

|

A stoppage-time header by Millwall substitute George Alexander a point at The New Den this afternoon when it looked as if Ollie Finney‘s first-half strike had moved the Alex above 4th-placed Bolton Wanderers in the Northern Section table.

Manager Alex Morris named Dave Richards in goal with a back 4 of Travis Johnson, Luke Offord, Billy Sass-Davies and Rio Adebisi in front of him. In midfield, James Jones made his first appearance in a Crewe shirt since getting injured at MK Dons in mid-January alongside Josh Lundstram in the centre while Joe Lynch, Finney and Owen Dale played behind the sole striker Regan Griffiths.

The opening chance of the game fell to Lundstram who shot straight at David Martin on the quarter-hour mark before the visitors would take the lead with Finney turning in the rebound following a Martin save from Griffiths’ effort just before the half-hour. Millwall levelled in the fourth minute of stoppage-time as Alexander rose highest to head home a cross.

The next game for Morris’ men is a game at home to Bristol City a week tomorrow with a 1.00pm kick-off at the Alexandra Stadium.
