Ainley Signs New Deal

|

Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that versatile midfielder Callum Ainley has signed a new 2-year deal with the club.

Ainley, 23, has spent his whole career so far with the club, making his debut at the age of 17 in September 2015 against Swindon Town in the first of his 207 appearances for the club (he has scored 18 times for the club, including at Bristol Rovers in the final away game of last season).

What does this signing mean for the club?

It’s great news for a player that will be looking to get himself back to fitness after his hamstring injury that kept him out for months last season.

It’s a big one for him as it looks like he’ll be playing most of his football in a central role (in some games we’ll see both him and Oli Finney in the team) rather than from a wide forward position where he played the majority of his early games.
