|

A goal in both halves from Ryan Viggars as well as from captain Charlie Barker and substitute Jason Adigun saw Charlton Athletic defeat Crewe Alexandra at the Alexandra Stadium this afternoon in the Under-23s Professional Development League.

Manager Lee Bell named Tom Booth in goal behind a back 4 of Ty Webster, Connor O’Riordan, Lewis Billington and Sean Lawton. In midfield were Charlie Finney and Joel Tabiner playing deeper with Owen Lunt, Matus Holicek and Max Woodcock in behind Tyreece Onyeka. On the bench were Sam Bhatti, Ben Wood, Zak Kempster-Down and goalkeeper Jack Flint.

The visitors would open the scoring in the 16th minute with Viggars heading in a corner from Jeremy Santos with them adding their second on the hour mark with Barker getting on the end of a Harris O’Connor right-sided cross.

Their third would come minutes later as Viggars would round Booth to finish with the fourth coming with 4 minutes to play as left wing-back Toby Bower’s cross turned in from close range by Adigun.

The next games at this level see Coventry City travel to Reaseheath on Thursday before finishing the season at Cardiff City next Tuesday, both games kicking off at 1:00 pm.
