U23: Goals In Both Halves See Alex Defeat Peterborough

|

Goals from Oli Finney and substitute Connor Salisbury saw Crewe Alexandra defeat Peterborough United in the Under-23s Professional Development League at Reaseheath this afternoon.

Manager Alex Morris named Sam Booth in goal behind a back 5 of Josh Lundstram, Connor O’Riordan, Zac Williams, Nathan Woodthorpe and Joel Tabiner. In midfield were Joe Robbins, Finney and Regan Griffiths while Ben Knight and Tyreece Onyeka started up front. On the bench were Salisbury, Charlie Finney, Owen Lunt, Ty Webster and substitute goalkeeper Tom Booth.

The Alex would take the lead in the 37th minute with Griffiths playing Finney in behind to chip Blackmore in the Posh goal before the Alex doubled the lead 10 minutes after the break with Salisbury reacting first to an O’Riordan effort that came back off the post. The visitors got one back in the 73rd minute with Idris Kanu scoring a penalty despite Booth going the right way before Posh trialist Kai Corbett was shown a second yellow card 6 minutes later.

The next games at this level see us travel to Coventry City next Tuesday (1:00 pm kick-off) before playing against Sandbach United in the Cheshire Senior Cup the following Tuesday (16th, 7:15 pm kick-off).
