Rio Adebisi And Connor Heath Sign First Professional Deals With Crewe Alexandra

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that second-year scholars Rio Adebisi and Connor Heath have signed their first professional deals with both players signing 1-year deals.

Adebisi is a left-back who can also play on the wing and was captain during the FA Youth Cup campaign last season that saw the young Railwaymen knocked out by Leicester City in the 4th Round while Heath is an attacking midfielder who got 3 goals during that cup run.

What does this mean going forward?

Adebisi is the youngster who Dave Artell earmarked as “being a couple of seasons away from the first team” during one of the supporters’ evenings and hopefully, his progression will allow Harry Pickering (assuming that he’s still here at the time) to play in his natural midfield position rather than as a full-back.

Have to be honest in that I’ve not seen much of Heath (Rio has been more of a regular for Alex Morris’ Under-23s to date) but it’s certainly been a while since we’ve had a goalscoring midfielder in the first team and having someone in the team that will get at least half-a-dozen from midfield will take the pressure off the forwards.
