Rodney Jack continues to impress on trial at Southport, the former Alex striker struck home a sweet volley for Southport this afternoon before playing a part in their secong goal of a 2-0 win over Macclesfield Town.
Jack is currently on trial at Haig Avenue after being released from the Alex in June.
Meanwhile, Luke Rodgers (pictured) scored his 6th & 7th goals of the pre-season for Port Vale with a brace against Sheffield Wednesday in a 3-0 win for Vale. A penalty and a 25 yard shot continued Rodgers’ impressive summer.
Michael Higdon played in a 2-1 win over Ajax for his new club Falkirk but failed to score.
Pavol Suhaj scored for Stafford Rangers in teir 3-1 defeat of Evesham United.
Finally, Lee Bell played in Mansfield’s 2-0 win over Derby County. Former Alex trialist Michael Boulding scored the first for Mansfield. Bell is currently mulling over a contract offer from the Stags.

still can’t see rodgers scoring 15+ next season. prefer miller any day
Notice it was another penalty? Headless chicken always came to mind with Luke. If he does score a few though you can be certain there’ll be plenty saying we should have kept him, when in fact it was more of a case should we have played him ahead of Maynard, Varney and now Miller? He simply didn’t want to warm the bench.
