The Crewe Alex U-14’s academy side will start their Milk Cup campaign against River Plate this Monday.
The Alex have a long history with the Milk Cup, an international tournament held annually in Northern Ireland. The Railwaymen have won the Premier (U-16’s) and Junior (U14’s) categories each twice since it started in 1983.
This year the Alex have entered into the Junior section, along with the likes of Chelsea, Watford, Reading & Swindon. For their first game the youngsters will play their River Plate counterparts, this coming Monday 30th July at 12noon. The game is quickly followed by a second on Tuesday against St. Kevins at 1:30pm.
Depending on how well the first two games go, the young team will either go into the quarter finals of the Milk Cup (If placed 1st-8th), Q/F of the BT Tophy (9th-16th) or the Q/F of the Dunlunce Trophy (17th-24th). All the quarter final games are played on Wednesday 1st August.
