Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that midfielder Josh Lundstram has signed a new 2-year deal with the club.

Lundstram, 22, came through the Academy system at the Alex has spent time on loan at Sandbach United, Newcastle Town, Kidsgrove Athletic (two spells), Nuneaton Borough and Altrincham before making his first-team debut in the EFL Trophy at Bolton Wanderers last September.

He has made 6 appearances in all competitions for the club, including as a substitute against Shrewsbury Town on the final day of last season.

What does the extension mean going forward?

He’s a player that I’m looking forward to seeing more of in the forthcoming season whether that’s in a deeper midfield role that he’s played in the Academy set-up at Under-18 and Under-23 levels or a more advanced role that he’s played in the first-team appearances that he’s made.

He’s someone that the club have looked at playing in different positions, including at right-back a couple of seasons ago, but he could be a breakthrough player at the Alex this season.
