Colkett Becomes Fourth Signing

|

Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that midfielder Charlie Colkett will join the club at the start of next month on a 2-year deal, becoming the club’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Conor Thomas, Kelvin Mellor and Courtney Baker-Richardson.

Colkett, 25, came through the youth system at Chelsea, spending time on loan at Bristol Rovers, Swindon Town, Vitesse Arnhem and Shrewsbury Town before joining Swedish club Ostersunds in January 2019 (with whom he was relegated at the end of last year) and later Cheltenham Town in January this year.

He has also represented England between Under-16s and Under-20s at international level.

What does this signing mean for the club?

Colkett is a left-footed playmaker who has made almost 150 career appearances, most of which have been in League 1 and the Allsvenskan, the top tier in Sweden. One worry would be that the most appearances that he’s made in a season for any of his clubs was in the 2020 season where he made 27 appearances in all competitions.
