Courtney Baker-Richardson Signs

|

Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that forward Courtney Baker-Richardson has become the club’s third signing of the summer, signing a 2-year deal, after leaving Newport County who had offered him a new deal.

Baker-Richardson, 26, came through the ranks at Coventry City before joining Tamworth on loan, Romulus, Nuneaton Town, Redditch United, Kettering Town and Leamington. He would spend 3 seasons at Swansea City between 2017 and 2020 (including a loan move with Accrington Stanley) before spending time at Barrow, Barnet and last season with the League 2 Welsh side.

What does this signing mean going forward?

He becomes the third senior striker to be on the books of the club, alongside Dan Agyei and Bassala Sambou. He made the Newport starting team 25 times in the league last season while also making 6 appearances from the bench, scoring 8 times – averaging a goal every 276.5 minutes of pitch time. It’ll be interesting to see whether he’s the main forward that we use next season or whether there’s another forward that will be coming in (dependant on the formation that we will go into the new season with).
