Nathan Wood Joins On Loan

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that Middlesbrough defender Nathan Wood has joined the club on loan, the fourth loan signing of the winter transfer window following the returns of Billy Jones and Boro teammate Stephen Walker as well as Antony Evans joining from Paderborn.

Wood, 18, has come through Middlesbrough’s Academy system and has already made 12 appearances for their first-team, including 7 this season, and became their youngest ever player on his debut over two years ago.

He has also represented England at every level between Under-15 and Under-18.

What are we getting from the signing of Wood?

He’s not someone that I’m familiar with (I’ve read that he’s a centre-back who can cover at left-back) but will add competition to Olly Lancashire and Omar Beckles in the centre-back position with the absence due to injuries of Donervon Daniels (who played 45 minutes for the Under-23s yesterday afternoon) and Luke Offord from the first-team picture, the latter likely to be out for the majority of the season.
