Billy Jones Re-Joins On Loan

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that Rotherham United defender Billy Jones has rejoined the club on loan for the rest of the season.

Jones, 33, started his career with the Alex, making his debut as a 16-year-old back in 2003 and would go on to make almost 150 appearances before a move to Preston North End in 2007. He would join West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland (playing in the Premier League for both) before joining the Millers in the summer of 2018.

He has also captained England at every level between Under-16 and Under-20.

How will the signing affect the Alex for the rest of the season?

It’ll certainly help the immediate future with both Harry Pickering and Luke Offord going off injured on Tuesday night but it’ll be interesting to see where he will play the majority of the games between now and the summer (where he is also out of contract with Rotherham).

He’s a player that Lunt will know well from playing together in Jones’ first spell while he’s another senior player that will offer his experience in and around the dressing room.
