Under-23s Defeat At Millwall In Season Opener

|

Tom Leahy’s stoppage-time winner saw Millwall defeat Crewe Alexandra in their Under-23s Professional Development League opener at Millwall’s training ground this afternoon.

With the Alex first-team at Oxford United tonight, manager Alex Morris named a young team although the line-up was not announced.

Alex Mitchell would have an effort saved for the hosts in the 3rd-minute before a Tom Lowery free-kick would be headed wide by Connor O’Riordan 6 minutes later. Mitchell would have the ball in the net in the 53rd-minute which was disallowed for offside before Davis would have an effort that went wide a couple of minutes later.

Mitchell would head an Aidan O’Brien corner straight at Tom Booth in the 72nd minute before Allen would be denied by Booth from just inside the area minutes later. The goal would come in the third minute of stoppage-time with a scramble turned in by substitute Leahy scoring from close range.

The next games at this level see us host Ipswich Town on Monday next week (1:00 pm kick-off) before a trip to Watford on the following Friday (27th, 2 pm kick-off).

Alex: Team not announced

Millwall: Wright, Walker, Tiensia, Topalloj, A. Mitchell, Penney, Moss (Leahy 34), Allen, Boateng, O’Brien, Davis.
