U23: Alex Defeat Barnsley With Late Goals In Both Halves

|

Goals from Connor Salisbury and Connor O’Riordan saw Crewe Alexandra defeat Barnsley in the Under-23s Professional Development League at Reaseheath this afternoon.

Manager Alex Morris named Dave Richards in goal behind a back 5 of Travis Johnson, Connor O’Riordan, Billy Sass-Davies, Zac Williams and Sean Lawton. In midfield were Joe Robbins, Josh Lundstram and Regan Griffiths while Salisbury and Joel Tabiner started up front. On the bench were Charlie Finney, Owen Lunt, Ty Webster, Zak Dempster-Down and goalkeeper Tom Booth.

The Alex would take the lead in the 44th minute following a mistake from Brown in the visitors’ goal with Salisbury finishing before the Tykes leveled a couple of minutes after the break after a scramble in the penalty area. The hosts would get the winner 5 minutes from time with O’Riordan turning in Tabiner’s low cross from close range.

The next games at this level see us host Sandbach United in the Cheshire Senior Cup next Tuesday (7:45 pm kick-off) before playing Peterborough United in the league the following Wednesday (3rd, 1:00 pm kick-off).
