Crewe travel to high-flying Tranmere with the hosts looking for a win to move into the play-offs. Ronnie Moore’s men have been in decent form of late, and were unlucky not to take anything from their 3-2 loss at Bristol City on Saturday. Crewe, meanwhile, have won two of out two in the last week, lifting them to 16th in the table, and could rise into the top half with a win tonight. With the game already having been postponed twice for fog, both sides will be hoping that the game will be able to go ahead as planned.

Tranmere Team News:

Robbie Stockdale and John Mullin are available following suspensions, though top scorer Chris Greenacre is a doubt with illness. Ex-Crewe loanee Gareth Taylor is likely to start up front, whilst Chris McCready has cemented his place in the centre of the Tranmere defence.

Player to watch: Gareth Taylor

Strikers often come back to haunt their former clubs and Taylor will be keen to proove a point to Dario Gradi. Taylor had indicated that his preference was to stay at Crewe, and he would do so if a two-year deal was forthcoming. However, since Gradi’s refusal to offer Taylor more than one year, Taylor has grabbed 6 goals and 4 assists for Rovers.

Crewe Team News:

Crewe are set to name an unchanged side following successive victories. Paul Bignot is impressing a left back and grabbed the assist for Nicky Maynard’s goal at the weekend, whilst David Vaughan will continue to play despite his broken nose.

Player to watch: Luke Varney

Varney leads the way both with goals and assists for Crewe this season, culminating in speculation of interest from Aston Villa. Varney has 13 goals in his last 15 games, and will be looking to bag his 20th of the season tonight.
