The team will spend the next week training in Bulgaria but Gary Roberts has been left behind. The trouble maker is ‘not in the right frame of mind’ according to assist manager Neil Baker but with Roberts on the transfer list it could mean a move away is finally on the cards.

New signing Calvin Zola has also opted to stay at home. The 23 year old felt uncomfortable leaving the country just a week after being granted a work permit for his move to the Alex. It means a spot on the plane for trialist Eddie Johnson as Holland takes a large 26 man squad.

The trip has been funded by a Bulgarian Alex fan who is currently owner of Bulgarian 2nd Division side FC Maritsa. Rangel Beberov offered the club the trip if they agreed to play Maritsa during the trip. Crewe will face Maritsa on Tuesday.
