Plymouth Argyle Appoint Ryan Lowe As Manager

|

Plymouth Argyle have appointed Bury manager Ryan Lowe as their new manager yesterday afternoon.

Lowe, 40, whose playing career had included three separate spells with the Alex between 2006 and 2017 before he rejoined Bury as a player/coach in January 2017. He was appointed manager at Gigg Lane, initially on a temporary contract the following January, before being appointed full-time manager last summer with him winning League 2 promotion as runners-up in the season that has just finished.

Former Alex midfielder Steven Schumacher, who was first-team coach at Bury, has also joined Argyle as Lowe’s assistant manager.

What does this mean for Plymouth?

It’ll be interesting to see how he does at Argyle as they look to return to League 1 after being relegated into the fourth tier last month. This will be a bigger test of his young management career to date with the budget at the Devon club almost certainly much smaller than the one he had at Bury.
