Crewe midfielder Michael O’Connor made his first appearance in the starting eleven for Northern Ireland as they brushed San Marino aside.

O’Connor played the full game at Windsor Park and had a blinder by all accounts. The game ended 4-0 in favour of Northern Ireland with goals coming from Healy, McCann, Lafferty and Davis.

The young midfielder will have gained a few extra fans with a confident performance in which he even did his trademark step-over cross which nearly set up what would have been the 5th goal. If Occy keeps performing like this then surely we won’t be able to keep hold of him during the January transfer window.

O’Connor returns from international duty on Friday and should be fit to face the MK Dons the day after.

Vital Crewe would like to congratulate Occy on his first international start.
