17th placed Crewe travel to 16th place Northampton with both sides knowing that a win could lift them as high as 11th in the league. Northampton’s form has been impressive in recent weeks with boss Stuart Gray putting distance between the Cobblers and the relegation zone.

Mark Hughes and Kenny Deuchar could make their debuts for Northampton today having completed moves during the transfer window from Everton and Gretna respectively. However, Stuart Gray is without defenders Brett Johnson and Pedj Bojic.

Player to watch: Kenny Deuchar

The 6’4 forward was prolific during his time with Gretna. Having impressed in the Scottish Second and Third divisions, it will be interesting to see how the forward is able to cope with life in League One.

Rodney Jack and Lee Matthews remain out for Crewe, though Ben Rix has made a mysterious recovery from a suspected Hernia and may take his place on the bench. New signing Danny Woodards isn’t expected to feature yet, though youngster Tom Pope may be handed a place on the bench.
