Match Report – Crewe Alexandra vs Morecambe

|

Substitute Shaun Miller, against his former club, scored the only goal of the game against Morecambe at the Alexandra Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Manager David Artell made 2 changes from last Saturday`s defeat at Luton with James Jones missing out due to injury with Ryan Wintle taking his place whilst Miller dropped out with Chris Porter coming in up front.

The opening chance of the game came in the 5th minute as Jordan Bowery was put through by Paul Green with the striker shooting straight at veteran keeper Barry Roche from a tight angle before Morecambe`s first potential chance came on 10 minutes with Callum Lang unable to get on the end of Garry Thompson`s cross. It was the forward`s only meaningful contribution as he was stretchered off the pitch minutes later.

After the mini-break, Morecambe captain Michael Rose forced Ben Garratt into a save from a free-kick before midfielder Andy Fleming shot straight at Garratt after being put through. The final chance of the half saw Callum Ainley cut in off the right-wing with his shot diverted over via Green`s head.

Into the second half where substitute Gregg Wylde shot wide after coming in from the right onto his stronger left-foot before the best chance of the game was set-up by the wide-man with Lang somehow managing to miss the target from 2 yards out despite being in the middle of the goal. The only goal of the game came in the 89th minute as Harry Pickering`s corner was kept alive by Eddie Nolan and finished by Miller from just outside the 6-yard box.

Crewe`s next game is our final away game of the season, against Crawley Town next Saturday.
