Port Vale have denied that ourselves and Leeds United want ‘star’ striker Marc Richards. The denial comes before any sort of rumour seems to have surfaced; there’s certainly been no talk at this end.
Richards has scored ten goals for the Vale this season having rejected a £100,000 move to Cheltenham. He has previously played at Gresty Road on loan from Blackburn in 2001. It seems unlikely that, with Zola, Pope, Donaldson, Elding and Miller, the Alex would be eyeing up any more strikers.
Thankfully Vale chairman Bill Bratt has moved quick to deny Richards is being off loaded by the mid-table League Two club. Bratt told The Sentinel:
‘Speculation surrounding Marc is totally untrue because nobody has come in for him.
‘I actually heard people on the terraces say Marc didn’t play against Notts County because he might be moving, but he didn’t play because he had a dead-leg.’
