Crewe face struggling Leyton Orient knowing that a win could see the Alex back in the top half of the table. Leyton Orient are above the relegation zone, but only thanks to their goal difference. 14 Premiership scouts will be at today’s game, which will be both’s sides final game of the transfer window.

Crewe Team News:

Nicky Maynard is out with a hamstring injury for the Railwaymen. Varney’s return from injury has coincided with Maynard’s injury, however, so the ex-Quorn man will partner Rodney Jack up front. Jon Otsemobor is fit again, but the good form of Darren Moss means Otsemobor will have to settle for a place on the bench. Michael Higdon and Lee Matthews will both be named amongst the substitutes.

Player to watch: Luke Varney

The forward has been a revelation this season, and with 14 Premiership scouts looking on, the forward will be keen to take his goals tally past 20 for the season.

Leyton Orient Team News:

Orient boss Martin Ling has been threatening to drop some of his underperforming stars in recent weeks. Whether or not that materialise only Ling knows, but he will have to do without defender John Mackie and midfielder Michael Simpson, though Adam Tann may return to the starting line up.

Player to watch: Matt Lockwood

The left back leads the way in terms of goals and assists for Orient this season, and scored Orient’s goal as the two sides met in December.
