Crewe Alexandra are set to open talks with yet another goalkeeper in their search for a number one. Holland has already seen rejections from last season’s number one Ben Williams and Gretna shot stopper Greg Fleming, who joined Oldham last week, whilst rookie Owain Fon Williams has stalled on a new deal this month.

FIlling the goalkeeper position has been made number one priority and assistant manager Neil Baker has revealed that they will open talks with a new target this week.

The experienced keeper is said to be out of contract having previously played in the Championship, and Baker says he would be a player the club would be pleased to capture.

Baker told Superalex.co.uk: “We haven’t deliberately gone for an older keeper – I don’t think that matters, as long as they are good enough.

“But this keeper has played in The Championship and has the sort of quality we would be very pleased to have in our team.”
