Gudjon is already making plans for next season, saying he has sounded out a new number one ready for the summer.

Speaking at last night’s fans forum meeting Gudjon told fans that he’s not happy with the club’s current set of goalkeepers and that it looks like John Ruddy will be playing Championship football next season.

With two of Steve Collis, Stuart Tomlinson and Adam Legzdins likely to be leaving the club in the summer it leaves room for Gudjon to find a new number one to take the team forward next season.

Gudjon said that a Championship keeper in his mid-20’s is his main target but nothing is signed and sealed yet:

‘I think it is vital for any football club to have a strong goalkeeper and solid defence.

‘I have already spoken to a goalkeeper about possibly coming here in the summer. He is a relatively young goalkeeper, around the mid 20’s and is Championship quality. I have had a reasonably positive response, so that is something we will look to do at the end of the season.’

The goalkeeping position is weirdly one position that hasn’t come under much scrutiny from Alex fans this season but Gudjon has clearly pin-pointed as a major weak spot in the squad. Hopefully goes to show just how much Gudjon wants us to improve.
