Former Alex Players On The Move – June 2023

In this column, we’ll look at those former Alex players that have been on the move in the month of June.

On Tuesday 6th, National League side Oldham Athletic would announce the signing of midfielder Josh Lundstram from Altrincham on a 2-year deal. He made 36 appearances for the Alex before leaving the club last summer.

On Thursday 8th, League 2 side Grimsby Town completed the signing of defender Toby Mullarkey for an undisclosed fee on a 2-year deal. After coming through the academy set-up with the Alex, he didn’t make a first-team appearance before being released in 2017.

On Friday 9th, League 2 club Harrogate Town announced the signing of defender Rod McDonald on a 2-year deal with the expiry of his Alex deal. He made 36 appearances last season in his only season for the club.

On Thursday 15th, Australian A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers signed forward Lachlan Brook on a 2-year deal. He made 34 appearances in all competitions during a loan move from Brentford last season.

On Wednesday 21st, defender Chris Stokes would move from Kilmarnock to Morecambe on a free transfer, signing a 12-month deal. He made 2 appearances for the Alex during a loan spell in the 2009/10 season.

On Friday 23rd, League 1 club Oxford United completed the signing of goalkeeper James Beadle on a season-long loan. He made 9 appearances for the club in a loan spell last season.

On Sunday 25th, National League North club Peterborough Sports completed the signing of Matt Tootle from Grantham Town. He made 224 appearances for the club between 2009 and 2015.

On Tuesday 27th, League 1 club Port Vale completed the signing of Conor Grant following his release from Plymouth Argyle. He made 19 appearances in all competitions during a loan spell in the 17/18 season.

On Thursday 29th, League 1 side Leyton Orient would sign forward Dan Agyei on a 2-year deal. He made 61 appearances for the club after signing from Oxford in January 2022 before leaving this summer.

Also on the same day, fellow League 1 club Burton Albion signed midfielder Rekeem Harper on a 2-year deal. He made 15 appearances for the Alex during a loan spell in the 2021/22 season.
