Darlington Sign Nicky Hunt

|

Darlington have confirmed that they have signed former Crewe Alexandra defender Nicky Hunt.

Hunt, 36, started his career at Bolton Wanderers where he made over 150 appearances for the club before he would leave at the summer of 2010. He would also represent Birmingham City and Derby County during his Bolton spell on loan then Bristol City, Preston North End, Rotherham United, Accrington Stanley (loan then permanent), Mansfield Town, Leyton Orient and Notts County. He would join the Alex in the summer of 2018 following a trial and would make over 50 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring his only goal at Carlisle United last season

He would also represent England at Under-21 level 9 times during 2004 and 2005.

What are Darlington getting out of the defender?

Whilst he can play both as a full-back and at centre-back, they should play him solely at the latter due to his lack of pace these days. They will be fine utilising quicker, more mobile players around him but he reads the game well and will help the younger players around him.
