Holland and Dario continue their search for a new striker this week and they have a Championship striker in mind.

Dario & Holland have been largely unimpressed with what Lowe & Pope had to offer in Luke Varney’s old role this summer and have been searching length of the country for a partner for Maynard.

Two names they have seemingly missed on on are Leon Constantine, now signing for Leeds, and Lee Barnard, who Tottenham wouldn’t allow to come on loan. The club have also taken former Coventry striker Patrick Suffo on trial but his complete lack of fitness doesn’t make him a suitable target for the time being.

Dario has now taken the search to the Championship, and says he has a player in mind who he will go to watch to run the rule over. Whilst the young striker isn’t exactly what the club are looking for he may be able to do a job.

don’t really fancy an unproven striker from a championship club….ffs get your begging bowl out and get barnard in on loan….not as if he will be anywhere near spurs first xi

Is this down to Dario’s (and Holland’s?) reluctance to loan someone who we may not be able to buy? If it is then they need to wake up. We need a stop gap urgently whilst Pope, and the youngsters, continue to progress. If this means we’re improving them for the benefit of others then so be it, as long as the striker scores a fair few and we don’t end up with another in the long line of dud loanees. I don’t believe that Premiership clubs would not be willing to let us take their good youngsters on loan – without wishing to blow our trumpet, I expect we should be one of the first choices!
