The Railwaymen are taking a look at yet another midfielder, with Northern Ireland star Daryl Fordyce in the frame. The Belfast born 20 year old was released from Portsmouth this summer, although he came through the Glasgow Rangers Academy.
A star of the Northern Ireland youth set up alongside our own Michael O’Connor, Fordyce played three games on loan at Bournemouth at the end of the 05-06 season but never made a game for Portsmouth.
Fordyce is currently training with Irish League side Ballymena United and their manager Tommy Wright, the former Man City goalkeeper, admits he’d like to sign Fordyce but may have to wait for the Alex to make their mind up.
‘Crewe are showing some interest but Daryl is a quality player and we are prepared to wait for him’ Wright told the BBC.
Daryl has also had a trial at Luton Town this summer.
If Fordyce signed, he’d become the 3rd midfielder to sign this summer along with Bopp & Schumacher.
