Aldershot Town manager Gary Waddock says Crewe is the best place for Joel Grant to be. Grant signed from the league newcomers today for a Aldershot record of £130,000 having been at the Shots for just 12 months.
Grant is now set to get the nod on the right wing come August and Shots boss Waddock says it’s a pleasing deal all round.
Speaking to gethampshire.co.uk Waddock said: “He is a fantastic player and one I rate very highly.
But this is another step for him, to a higher league and, with Crewe`s reputation for bringing through young players, Crewe is the best club he could be at, apart from ours.
“We will miss him as he is talented and a crowd pleaser. We wish him well.”
The 20 year old is described as a pacey, tricky winger. GetHampshire.co.uk said of Grant:
‘While he was sometimes guilty of drifting out of games, he also offered the Shots skills unrivalled at Conference level and he may well have excelled all the more in a higher league. Crewe certainly think so.’
Meanwhile, Steve Holland has moved on to his other targets with Steve Collis & Robert Snodgrass in his grasp.

He sounds like a usual winger if he drifts in and out of games.
