In what is seen as a near done deal, it is believed Crewe are about to acquire the services of ex-Everton striker Nick Chadwick from Plymouth for £250,000.
Stoke born Chadwick scored only two goals in nine appearances for The Pilgrims last season, but would be a welcome addition to the Crewe squad who are still searching for a replacement for departed Luke Varney.
In total Chadwick has scored 16 goals from 64 appearances across his career, which started at Everton, followed by loan moves to Derby and Millwall, before signing for Plymouth for a fee of £250,000 in 2005.

Dario not at GR today… tying up the deal?
Possibly not. Played 45 minutes for Argyle today.
done deal, not happy. should be looking for better targets
Have a feeling this may be a case of mistaken identity. Ollie goves the impression that Nick Chadwick will feature for Argyle this season.
i hope your right. dont rate him
Fantastic player when he is feeling confident in his own ability.
how tall is he? what his strengths?
Dario/Neil Baker are long term fans of Chadwick though; we tried to loan him from Everton a few years ago.
well this surprised me, he played 2day sooo this could be pants, who knows?
That would be a good signing for your lot.
He’s about 6 foot and a strong lad, got some pace and when confident does know where the net is. For Argyle he is injured so much with little silly injuries which interupts his flow. I think that it is a bit rich for a Crewe fan to say that they dont want an argyle player. Players better then, or of the likes of, Chadwick would at least expect to play for a team that is more often then not going to finish mid table in the CHAMPIONSHIP.
Calm down. No one said we don’t want Plymouth players, just we don’t really want Chadwick. He’s a bit of step down from players like Lee Barnard, Leon Constantine and Craig Lindfield who we’ve tried for this summer and certainly not worth £250,000.
He’s an established Championship striker. He almost certainly IS worth £250,000. Transfer prices are just crazy.
Dont forget he is English so thats why its a high price. I mean Bristol City paid £1m for Lee Trundle, a 30 year old player who hasnt out and out proven himself in the championship. Just to give you an idea of how rediculous prices have become.
Of those three pople i have heard of Constentine. I think you guys just think its a step down cause Chadwick is doing ok for a championship team rather then doing well in lower leagues and not getting his name in the press.
his goal ratio is poor. and his injury record not great. personally i don’t think he is worth 250k. i prefer to go with our kids if chadwick is all we can get.
if he comes i will support him all the way and give him a chance. but they are my views for what they are worth.
