John Brayford is attracting interest from a few Championship clubs, with his former manager Nigel Clough involved. Clough, now manager of Derby, has recently spoken about looking at Brayford as a Rams summer signing and may well have stepped his interest up further.

Gudjon Thordarson has confirmed that he has already rejected a bid for the young right back, saying ‘it wasn’t worth the paper it was written on’. However, it surely can’t be long before the 21 is ready to depart – with Thordarson saying three Championship clubs are interested.

Speaking to CreweAlex.net, Thordarson confirmed:

‘John has attracted interest from Derby, but they are not the only ones. I am aware of two other clubs in the Championship being interested in him. That is healthy for us and I’m not surprised because John is a good player and will only get better.

‘I think he could play in the Championship and we’ll have to see if one club is ready to commit and make us a suitable offer.’

Brayford signed from Burton Albion in August last year under Steve Holland’s guidance. His season was pretty spectacular, arriving from the Conference to go on to pick up the player of the season awards all round at Gresty Road.

Like Gudjon, no-one will be surprised by the interest shown in Brayford and with us now facing his former club in League Two next season he may feel it’s time to move on to better things. But for how much?
