Crewe Alexandra travel to the south coast this weekend when facing a much-improved AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court.

“When you don’t play and others clubs do, you tend to slip down the league a bit” – Steve Davis

Manager Steve Davis is definitely without the services of goalkeeper Alan Martin due to a foot injury and therefore Steve Phillips continues between the uprights with teenager Ben Garratt on the bench.

“We have spoken with Bournemouth and they expect rain rather than snow or frost,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “The forecast is good, although we will leave a bit earlier to avoid any adverse weather up here.

“It will be nice to play because it has been ten days since the Bradford game and it was Stevenage in the league before that,” he continued. “It will be nice to get going again and play. When you don’t play and others clubs do, you tend to slip down the league a bit and have games in hand, so it will be nice to get back into the games.”

The Alex are unveiling a special one-off third kit of all white for the game in order to avoid clashing with the Cherries.

Bournemouth keeper Shwan Jalal should keep his place ahead of former England shot-stopper David James but latest signing Ryan Fraser is still out with a hip injury.

Meanwhile, there are real doubts concerning struggling quartet Charlie Daniels, Simon Francis, Eunan O`Kane and Josh McQuoid.
