Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis was left bemoaning a couple of controversial penalty decisions as Bournemouth eventually ran out 3-1 winners at Dean Court.

Those awards allowed Cherries striker Brett Pitman to gratefully help himself to a hat-trick, despite a consolation effort from Alex substitute Ryan Colclough – his first senior goal for the visitors.
“I have to say that it was two bizarre decisions from the referee that has cost us today,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “I don’t know if the early one has affected him because nobody could believe he has given the first penalty.
“The second penalty was another outrageous one, their lad has run into our player and gone down,” he added. “I don’t know why it was given at all and it is very disappointing. The decisions have changed the game this afternoon.”

Two stonewall penalties. Get over it. Some you win, some you lose. You lost to the better team. The referee was spot on and he let many other indiscretions by both teams go without punishment.
just a sore loser, both were definite pens, have a look at them on TV. Also should have had another one just after the 1st one. Perhaps your players shouldn’t go diving in so much. You had plenty of possession but did nothing with it.
No tackle was made for the eithrt penalty – clearly a case of the forward running into the defender and going down – CHEATS.

…both were penalties on seeing the replays on TV, whilst at the game I wasn’t sure about the first one? The second was nailed on as Fogden had his ankle tapped. Crewe had good posession early in the game but weren’t effective in getting any real testing shots on target. In the end we had a few clear scoring chances that we wasted and the score reflected that (taking away the two penalties) I don’t like us being called cheats but that seems to be standard when a team gets awarded penalties. Crewe have the chance for revenge in a few weeks time at Cresty Road in what will be a tough away match for Bournemouth.

Bournemouth are clearly a very good side who play nice football, so its all the more disappointing that they feel they have to throw themselves to the ground every five minutes in order to win a game. Pugh could easily have been sent off for play acting in the first half if a stronger ref was in charge. Steve Davis told it how it was, youd have to be pretty blinkered to see it any other way.
