Alex Go Down To Forest In Under-23s Clash

|

A brace from Virgil Gomis after an early strike from Brennan Johnson gave Nottingham Forest the victory at the Nigel Doughty Training Ground in the Under-23 Professional Development League this afternoon despite a late goal from Connor Heath for the Alex.

Forest took the lead in the second minute with a Tony Edser cross turned in by Johnson from close range before they doubled their lead on 39 minutes after a foul on Johnson with Gomis putting away the resulting penalty. The same would happen again after the break, once again a foul on Johnson saw Gomis score a penalty while the Alex goal came 4 minutes from time with Heath rounding goalkeeper George Shelvey before rolling into the empty net.

The next couple of games are a home game against Tranmere Rovers in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night at the Alexandra Stadium before hosting Barnsley in the Development League a week on Monday (24th) at Reaseheath.
