AJ Leitch-Smith Signs 2-Year Morecambe Extension

|

Morecambe have announced yesterday afternoon that striker Ajay Leitch-Smith has signed a 2-year extension with the club, his deal was set to expire this summer.

Leitch-Smith, 29, started his career with the Alex making his debut 10 years ago against Bury as the first of his 122 appearances in all competitions for Crewe (he was on the scoresheet 22 times for the club) before spending time at Yeovil Town, Port Vale, Shrewsbury Town and a loan spell with Scottish club Dundee ahead of signing for the Shrimps last summer.

What does this mean for the future?

Morecambe will be delighted to have secured the future of their 4th top scorer (he was top scorer at the point that he got injured in January against the Alex for the rest of the season) for another 2 years as he had made an impact for the Shrimps. It’ll be interesting to see whether he is going to be a first-choice player at the start of next season (without any signings in the transfer market he probably will be) or whether Morecambe go out and sign more than one forward as they’ve let a couple of strikers go this summer.
