Who’s been performer of 2011 for you?

A poll is under way to decide who has been the best in the red of Crewe Alex this calendar year.

We’ve narrowed it down to the best or most consistent performers, past and present. They are…

Steve Phillips
Having been cast aside last season, he returned to the starting 11 this season and has been outstanding. Arguably the best goalkeeper in the division, we have him to thank for some early-season points.

Adam Dugdale
The fans who once groaned at the inclusion of Duggy in the starting 11 are now worshipping the ground he walks on. It’s been a brilliant 12 months for the centre half and his improvement has seen him cement his place in the side.

David Artell
The club captain and mainstay at the back, it seems as though if Artell has a good game then the result is more often than not in the Alex’s favour.

Matt Tootle
Had a tough (brief) spell at left back but without doubt a classy right back and not so long ago linked to the higher leagues.

Patrick Ada
May well have left in the summer but was a fan favourite with his performances at the back. An assured performer and one many were sad to see depart.

Carl Martin
Martin’s seen the back of his injury woes and cemented a place in the Alex 11. Whether it’s centre back or left back, it doesn’t seem to phase the former Wealdstone man.

Ashley Westwood
After a tough start to 2010-2011, Westy has slowly returned to form this year in an increasingly competitive Alex midfield.

Lee Bell
Almost ever present throughout the year, Belly has returned from Macc to battle for his home town club.

Luke Murphy
Another midfield mainstay for the Alex and one who can split a defence with a single pass whilst doing his fair share of work in his own half.

Byron Moore
Was on the verge of leaving in the summer but a devastating player when on form.

Shaun Miller
His partnership with Donaldson will go down as one of the best, a partnership that League Two couldn’t handle. Finishing last season with 20 goals and 11 assists, it’s a surprise he wasn’t snapped up in the summer by the vultures.

Clayton Donaldson
Top scorer, golden boot winner and all round top player. Donaldson’s departure may see him miss out on this but there’s no doubting the class he showed.
