Sass-Davies Signs To 2024

|

Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that Welsh defender Billy Sass-Davies has signed a new contract to 2024, with his previous deal set to expire this summer.

Sass-Davies, 21, has made 22 appearances for the club in all competitions (scoring in last season’s Carabao Cup game against Lincoln City) since making his debut as a 17-year-old against Newcastle United’s Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.

Earlier in his career, he had spent time on loan at Colwyn Bay, Leek Town, FC United of Manchester, Altrincham (two spells), AFC Telford United, Ashton United and Yeovil Town.

He has also been capped by his country at Under-19 and Under-21 level, gaining 7 caps at that level with a goal in their current qualifying campaign.

What does this deal mean going forward?

He’s someone who has really broken into the team this season and established himself over more senior players as the central player of the 3 centre-backs in the system that we currently use.

Whilst he’s not the finished article (and very few are playing at this level), he’s earned himself the chance to build the defence around next season regardless of whether we’re in League 1 or League 2
