Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson is aiming for his side to pass the 50 point barrier before the final game of the season at home to leicester.

Thordarson believes his side will need more than 50 points, the total Crewe survived with last season to remain in league one and he hopes his side can secure safety before facing high flying Leicester City in the final game.

Thordarson told the sentinel ‘We won’t be safe on 50 points. We have to be cool and calm and hopefully it will be done and dusted before the final day.’

This would mean Crewe need to win both home games, against fellow strugglers Hartlepool and Cheltenham witch would take them to 50 points and then carry on their good away form to pick up points at Oldham and Stockport. Gudjon believes it will be a tough battle to advoid the final relegation place.

‘I think the battle for safety will be tough right to the very end, although three teams (Cheltenham, Hereford and Brighton) are more or less gone.’

Crewe however could be back in the relegation zone on friday, if Northampton get a suprise win at Bristol Rovers, before Crewe face Hartlepool at Gresty Road on saturday.
