Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson admitted his side got what they went for at the county ground. Gudjon told the offical site he’d of took a point prior to the game, however he felt his side did enough to have took away a much needed 3 points in their relegation battle.

Gudjon told crewealex.net ‘ I would have taken a point before the game but i thought we did enough in the first half to score two goals. We created some chances and we should have taken at least one of them ‘

Thordarson also had special praise for Dennis Lawrence, playing after only joining up with team mates on friday having captained Trinidad and Tobago in two world cup qualifiers and for debutant Scott McManus, who produced a decent performance on the left for Crewe.

‘ Dennis has come back from International duty, hasn’t trained with us and was excellent for us. It was very difficult for him with all the games and travelling he has had to do, but he showed his quality again today. ‘

‘ It was not easy for young Scott because he has has had to come into a big game but he is in there on merit ‘
‘ He approached the game with lots of confidence and did very well. He then moved to left back when Alan (Sheehan) got injured and he defended well against a tricky winger in McNamee ‘
