U21: Evans Opener Cancelled Out By Hoops Equaliser

|

A goal from Connor Evans saw Crewe Alexandra gain a point from their second Under-21s Professional Development League game at Reaseheath against Queens Park Rangers following an equaliser in the final 15 minutes by Rafferty Pedder.

Manager Michael Jackson named Dave Richards in goal behind a back 4 of a trialist, captain Billy Sass-Davies, Lewis Billington and Charlie Finney. In front of them were Khanya Leshabela and Regan Griffiths with Joel Tabiner, Oli Finney and Matus Holicek starting behind Evans. On the bench were Sam Bhatti, Max Woodcock, Owen Lunt, Marquise Martins and goalkeeper Tom Booth.

The visitors would have the first effort on 8 minutes as Stanley Flaherty would hit the crossbar before Evans would put the Alex ahead 12 minutes later. The lead was almost doubled just before the break as Tabiner would drag an effort wide before Holicek would force goalkeeper Matteo Salamon into a save after the break.

The R’s almost levelled with 12 minutes to play with Richards making a great save before Pedder equalised a minute later. There was enough time for the trialist to clear an effort off the line for the Alex to remain unbeaten at this level.

The next games at this level sees the Alex host Coventry City at the Alexandra Stadium next Monday (12th, 1:00 pm) before travelling to Peterborough United the following Friday (16th, 2:00 pm).
