Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis continues to praise the efforts of former Wrexham striker Mathias Pogba.

“His quality may not be there all the time but that will improve” – Steve Davis

The 22-year-old arrived at Gresty Road over the summer after twelve goals in 42 games for the North Wales non-leaguers last term.

Pogba went on to enjoy a terrific pre-season with the Alex and was already a regular goalscorer for them before netting twice on his senior debut against Hartlepool United in the Capital One Cup in August. He was then on target against Notts County in the next game and also found back of the net at Brentford before suffering an ankle injury.

However, Pogba has recently returned to competitive action after more than a month on the sidelines but hasn’t scored in his four games so far.

“No-one can fault his effort and work ethic in the games,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “He is terrific and works so hard for the team.

“His quality may not be there all the time but that will improve with the work he does here,” he added. “He always gives 100% and is eager to learn, so he has a bright future if he continues to work hard.”
