Mandron Signs Contract Extension

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that striker Mikael Mandron has signed a 12-month contract extension with the club, his previous deal was due to expire in the summer.

Mandron, 26, joined the club from Gillingham last summer and has scored 9 goals in his 29 appearances so far this season. He has also had spells at Sunderland, Fleetwood Town, Shrewsbury Town, Hartlepool United, Eastleigh, Wigan Athletic and Colchester United earlier in his career.

What does this mean going forward?

He’s one of the players that we should be building the team around as we get used to this level of football. He’s someone that has held the ball up well, allowing other players to get up the pitch from a more defensive area, and has a little turn of pace that someone like a Chris Porter doesn’t have – yes it would be nice if we could add a few more goals to his game but that’s something that can be worked on (he scored 27 times in 123 appearances in the 3 years before joining us so he’s been more prolific for the Alex than he was for Colchester or Gillingham).
