Crewe Alexandra striker AJ Leitch-Smith is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks after suffering an ankle injury at the weekend.

“We will have to wait and see on how severe it is” – Steve Davis

The 22-year-old left Fratton Park on crutches following the 2-0 defeat against Portsmouth and the club are concerned it could be ligament damage.

Leitch-Smith had to be replaced by the returning Byron Moore after a rash first-half challenge from cautioned Pompey midfielder Brian Howard.

“We fear he has suffered some ligament damage there and are preparing for him to be out for a little while with that,” manager
Steve Davis told Crewe’s official website. “We will have to wait and see on how severe it is, but it doesn’t look good.”
