Dario Gradi has spoken today of the need to sort out the future of strikers Gareth Taylor and Eddie Johnson.

Both are expected to return to Crewe this week and will no doubt be speaking to the club with regards to next season, and if it will be with Crewe Alex.

As reported previously here on Vital Crewe, EJ was set to sign a 2-year deal however news about this has gone quiet. Since arriving in South Cheshire the former United Striker scored 4 times in 23 games, and would no doubt be looking to improve on that.

Taylor is more doubtful in that he is seeking a 2 year contract. His agent is claiming that a number of clubs are interested in the former Forest man, who impressed with us during his loan spell. Questions regarding fitness, and the players age have led Crewe to offer him a one-year deal only.

Dario Said!
‘I’m accepting the two players to be back this week at some point. If they come back and are willing to sign then great – but if they choice to go elsewhere then I think we have enough here to offer competition for places. I’m not particularly looking to replace them if they do move on. ‘

It’ll be interesting to see what will happen if Taylor and Johnson don’t stay, who Dario will look at playing upfront, in terms of senior strikers it would leave Varney, Rodgers and Higdon, with Manyard starting to push through.
