Dario Gradi was happy after the Alex notched up their first league win in thirteen games against Swindon yesterday.

We still remain some 8 points off safety but Shaun Miller’s sole strike against 10-man Swindon hopefully halts the slide.

A good festive period could really put us back in with a hope of staying up and Dario says that yesterday’s win has boosted everyone.

Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke following the game, the caretaker boss said: ‘It’s very pleasing for everyone involved. Even after defeats spirits in the dressing room have been good, the players have kept themselves going so good luck to them.

‘The players worked hard, I asked them to give the crowd something to cheer about and they did.

‘We didn’t play a lot of football, but we played some and we’ve got to try and build on that.’

Dario looks set to continue his caretaker role this week with the club still searching for Steve Holland’s successor. A trip down to Millwall this coming Saturday will provide a sterner test than Swindon did before a home game against Oldham on boxing day.
