Second Huddersfield Player Joins Alex On Loan

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that midfielder Josh Austerfield has joined the club on loan from Championship club Huddersfield Town until the end of the season, becoming the second signing of the 2024 January transfer window after fellow midfielder Lewis Leigh joined last week.

Austerfield, 22, came through the Academy system with the Terriers, making his debut as an 18-year-old in the Carabao Cup (the first of 6 appearances for the club) but has spent time out on loan at Brighouse Town, Hyde United, Harrogate Town twice and Morecambe.

He joins winger Aaron Rowe on loan from the Yorkshire club and will wear the number 25 shirt during his loan spell.

What does this mean going forward?

He’s another midfielder who plays as a number 6 or number 8 and I think this signing hints that Newcastle United midfielder Joe White is unlikely to return to the club later in the window (although I’ll happily be wrong with that one).
