Crewe Alexandra have confirmed the signing of Preston North End midfielder Lewis Leigh on loan until the end of the season, becoming the first signing of the January transfer window.
Leigh, 20, is a former Liverpool youth player who joined Preston as a 14-year-old, spending the past 4 months on loan at National League club Bromley – he made 13 appearances for them (getting sent off for 2 yellow cards in their game against Gateshead) as the club currently sit in 2nd place, 6 points off Chesterfield who have 3 games in hand over them.
The midfielder will wear the number 14 shirt during his spell with the club.
What will Leigh bring to the table?
Here’s what Bromley fan Peter Lee had to say about him:
Incredibly skilful player with great technique and vision. Sometimes found the physicality of games challenging. Not sure we’ll see a better set-piece taker anytime soon.

It looks like he’s coming in as someone to replace White, playing alongside a more defensive player like Conor Thomas as he looks to create from a deeper midfield position as well as an option for set-pieces.
