Ruddy Good News

Keeper John Ruddy has signed up for the rest of the season, boosting the Alex’s hopes of avoiding relegation.

Ruddy’s name is usually followed by the phrase ‘a proper keeper’ when discussed amongst Alex fans. His steady appearances, which have also seen a couple of outstanding saves, have certainly been a factor in our recent revival.

The Everton keeper arrived after Gudjon’s men had conceded fourteen in the previous four games. It’s been a tough ask for Ruddy to keep that tally down but with thanks to heroic defending from the likes of fellow loanees Marlon Broomes and Dennis Lawrence we have conceded just three in Ruddy’s six appearances so far.

The news that Ruddy will see out the season at Gresty Road will come as a massive confidence booster going into tomorrow’s big game at Brighton.

Unfortunately, like fellow loanee Marlon Broomes, Ruddy will not be eligible to play the final game of the season at home to Leicester. The loan deals will run out just short of the final match due to the loans only running to a maximum of 93 days.

It’s a good job the Leicester game won’t matter then.
