Crewe have completed the signing of Reading midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson on a one month loan.

Gudjon’s fellow countryman has previously had a loan spell at Shrewsbury Town this season, scoring once in six appearances.

He signed for Reading from Breidablik in 2005 and has so far made three appearances for the Royals. He came on as a substitute in Reading’s League Cup ties against Luton and Stoke back in August and September and following his loan at Shrewsbury he also managed 12 minutes in the FA Cup 3rd Round defeat at Cardiff.

The 19 year old is described as a right footed attacking midfielder who Shrewsbury saw as a little lightweight for League Two.

Sigurdsson will join up with the team at the hotel in Brighton later this evening.

What role he’ll play, if any, tomorrow is unknown. It’s a tad surprising Gudjon has chosen to bring in an attacking midfielder with already plenty of options available to him there. We’ll see.
