Crewe midfielder Ben Rix has agreed a new two-year deal with the club keeping him at the club until the summer of 2009. The new contract represents a remarkable turnaround for Rix, who was told he was free to leave the club last summer. However, having stayed at the club to fight for his place, Rix has recently shown what he is capable of with some fine performances at Brentford and Leyton Orient.

During his 94 appearances for the club, Rix has scored 4 goals. Rix is expected to be recalled to the starting line-up for tomorrow’s game against Yeovil.

Rix becomes Crewe’s 11th player contracted beyond summer 2007, though three of those players are goalkeepers. The other ten players are Ben Williams, Stuart Tomlinson, Owain fon Williams, Gary Roberts, Julien Baudet, Neil Cox, Michael O’Connor, David Vaughan, Luke Varney and Nicky Maynard.
